Why we exist
TO BUILD ASPIRATIONAL BRANDS AND COMMUNITIES FILLED WITH ENGAGED PEOPLE BY CREATING, LICENSING AND DISTRIBUTING SOCIAL CONTENT.
REAL LOVE FROM REAL PEOPLE FOR REAL BRANDS
Our world is always changing, our market and mediums always evolving so we need to constantly innovate to stay at the cutting edge of trends, ensuring we remain relevant to our audiences. After all, if you aren’t moving forwards, you’re going backwards.
Our audience aren’t just numbers, our figures are not empty stats. Our clients are more than just a retainer. We are here to build real, engaged communities that make a difference, that bring people together, build brands that audiences love and are a force for good.
We care passionately about the wellbeing of people within and outside of our organisation. We look after our team and empowered them to pass that on to our customers and audiences, always positive, friendly, honest and with others’ best interests at heart.
The company was established in 2016 by Andrew Trotman, Ryan Williams and Matt Thomas. The three young entrepreneurs all shared a passion for social media and the potential they believed it had to help people and brands for the better.
The business started with growing 15 sport related Twitter pages, which were mainly parody based, and over a relatively short period of time they substantially grew their respective followers and reach. The company then launched its first global brand called It’s Gone Viral on Facebook in late 2016. It remains dedicated to relatable, informative and educational content.
By 2019, and with It’s Gone Viral now going toe to toe with its established counterparts, the company once again branched out and grew several new brands including Go Fetch, a platform for dog lovers to connect with one another; Happiest, which focuses on bringing the most entertaining and uplifting content and real life stories; and Ultimate which is all about sharing fascinating and clever DIY, crafts and hacks followers can do at home.
Diversification became key to the business as it started to roll out its brands across different platforms including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube as well as maintaining a strong focus on Facebook. It also moved its HQ from Rochdale to Manchester city centre office, Ancoats.
In 2020, the firm rebranded from It’s Gone Viral to KOMI group and it restructured to become a three divisional agency consisting of dedicated social media (KOMI Media), marketing (KOMI Social) and licensing (ARK) teams.
The agency and licensing teams have worked and helped brands including Paddy Power, Mars, TikTok, Fray Bentos, Yo Sushi and Formula E to name a few. The core to all our services is bringing our clients genuine, insightful social knowledge which we are able to do via our proven track record for building in house brands and our relationships built up over this time. In everything we do, we have a deep rooted passion for all things social.
KOMI now employs close to 40 people including content creators, analysts, video producers and account managers. We are incredibly proud to be able to be a home for some incredible talent and are always on the lookout for individuals who share our values and passion.
